The pictures show a bright red conventional Farey, still with most of the the shiny paint from when it was born. It’s a conventional cocking trap with a rear trigger release to throw standard, midi, or mini clays as singles or pairs. I don’t think the trap has had a hard life but was used as a resource for spare parts because it came with bits missing.I have rebuilt the complete top end with new throwing arms, spacers, bolts, rubber drive rails, stainless steel teal clips & stops. The spring is fairly strong so I’ve also added a support plate to tie the ends of the arms together.Underneath, the trap is more basic than some but it has still been stripped and rebuilt using original parts. The main shaft is greased and the latch shaft is oiled, as with all Fareys lubrication is paramount to keep the trap working properly so this one is easier than the lever versions.
Trap elevation is by two 3/4″ studs, equivalent to a 19mm spanner, and height is held by another locking stud at the rear. As a trial, I have mounted the trap on one of my own three legged bases which can be taken apart easily for transportation and storage, there’s also a cushioned foam seat on this one instead of the usual plywood. The seat itself can be turned to give the trapper a bit more or less room behind the trap.Three M12 bolts hold the whole thing together, it might look a bit confusing but by inserting the long bolt with its nut and washer through both parts of the frame first it’s easy. I’m really pleased with how the outfit has worked so there will probably be more of these to come.£190 (+£25 delivery)
