I’ve just stripped and rebuilt this Bowman Markham double trap, fitting it to a lightweight base. It’s one of hundreds if not thousands of these traps still in use today, made to last and easy to maintain.At first glance the design is a bit odd for a double but it works. The usual top arm has an original sprung teal plate with a brand new rubber rail; the lower throwing plate is underslung and sprung so the bottom clay is held against the underside of the top arm before launching the pair.The lower rubber is in good order with minimal signs of use, this is consistent with the rest of the trap which I think was probably seen as a ‘parts donor’ as I have also replaced the spring.The base is acquired from a club, modified to fit into the back of a car with a detachable cross bar so it separates into three pieces.
