Third trap of a batch from a local private clay shoot, this is a Gun Safe double trap to throw singles or pairs as flying targets or ground rolling rabbits. The design means that the trap is strong as it’s made of folded plate and thick steel mountings, it’s got the standard surface rust collected over the years but it is still absolutely solid.Rather than a conventional cock and fire system, there are Clutch bearings around the main shaft so that the arms are held part way into the cocking cycle. After the first use all the trapper needs to do is pull the arms from 9 o’clock to 6 o’clock and they will lock in place until the clays are launched by pushing down on the red lever. Spring tension can be altered by using the large hand knob at the back. The trap head is held on with a large single nut, tightened using the big ‘T’ socket handle. Once that’s off one lynch pin holds the base together. The head can be mounted in three ways, high & low points for birds and sideways for rabbits or loopers. You can use the double arms to throw pairs of rabbits if the clays are loaded carefully and upside down, they can also be used to throw ‘flying rabbits’ or low loopers using standard clays.Arms are held on with basic nuts and bolts so you can put out all sorts of doubles but there is also a third, dedicated single rabbit arm which will roll proper rabbit clays faster. Like the other traps of this batch, the trap hasn’t been used much. The double rubbers are original with little or no wear and the teal clips are straight and clean, I’ve just re-rubbered the single arm and added a new pair of fixings, (not shown in the pictures).Overall this is a lovely, versatile trap which would be ideal for a group of guns on a Sunday morning. It’s a comfortable and easy trap to use, the only downside that I saw after using one for several years is that it is heavy and awkward to carry far in one piece but once in place it stays there. For that reason I haven’t put on a Paypal button, the delivery on this would have to be discussed first, please.
